Williamsburg for Port 68 Virginia Temple Jar

The "Virginia" temple jar celebrates the decorative motif pattern of an 18th century chintz fabric from the Colonial Williamsburg collection.

The overall floral sprig pattern on our jar is from a fragment of chintz cotton made in India about 1700-1750. Although the original appears to be block printed, variations in the flowers reveal that it was made by the more labor intensive hand mordant-painting and dyeing process.
